Chris Kitze is an internet entrepreneur who has founded several IT companies. He grew up in a Christian family in Boulder, Colorado, and was drawn to Eastern philosophy from high school on. He first saw Falun Dafa (Falun Gong) in Times Square in 2004, and later took up the practice after reading its main book, Zhuan Falun, in two weeks.
A Search That Began in High School
In high school, Chris joined a speed-reading class. One of the books was Hermann Hesse’s Siddhartha, the story of a young man seeking the meaning of life. Reading it, he felt a spiritual connection he had never felt in the churches he had attended.
In college he took a class in Chinese philosophy and read the whole Tao Te Ching. Later he visited temples in Japan and seriously thought about going back there to study.
Seeing Falun Gong in Times Square
In 2004 Chris took a break from his companies and went to New York with his two children. Taking pictures in Times Square, he saw a group of Falun Gong practitioners doing the exercises, and he felt the kindness in their energy. He already knew about the persecution in China.
Two years later he wanted to meditate, but chose another school first. After about a year he felt it was not helping, and he remembered Falun Gong. He read Zhuan Falun in two weeks and began to practice.

Making Responsible Choices
“We have to make choices in our life,” Chris says. In business and in daily life, he tries to think about where each choice leads.
Following the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, he uses his computer skills to help people learn the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong in China. He also goes to San Francisco’s Chinatown to do the exercises and talk with people. “There are many good people in Chinatown,” he says, “and they deserve to know the truth.”
