Representative Trent Franks from Arizona stated in his letter,
“Today, we recognize the 17 years of persecution Falun Gong practitioners have endured at the hands of the Communist Party of China, which has attempted to eradicate the practice from the country. Practitioners have been confined to labor camps and prisons, and more than 3,900 people are confirmed dead, though independent human rights organizations believe the number is much higher. Thousands have been subjected to a most barbaric practice, and have lost their lives so their vital organs could be extracted and sold for organ transplantation – a lucrative business in China.”
